Configuring and Quoting Electric Motors | Microsoft Dynamics 365 | Quote Manager CPQ

Quote Manager CPQ provides the ideal tool for motor manufacturers, motor distributors / reseller and inverter sales. In this blog, we show how you can build an electric motor quote using our CPQ tool within Microsoft Dynamics for Sales.

Configuring and quoting for electric motors can be a complex process, with complex pricing rules. It starts by searching for the right motor to configure and then configuring the motor to the client specific requirements.

Quote Manager CPQ is an addon within Microsoft Dynamics 365, allowing you to generate accurate quotes quickly and efficiently.

Searching and Selecting the Motors

Quote Manager CPQ allows you to filter products based on specific criteria:

1. Search by Product Family:

Begin by searching for the desired motor range.

2. Filter by Kilowatts:

Narrow down the options based on power requirements.

3. Select Poles & Materials:

Further refine the search by choosing the number of poles and the material e.g. Aluminium or Cast Iron.

4. Add Motors:

Select the appropriate motors and add them to the Quote by clicking the +Items button.

Configuring the Motor

Add associated items from Product Suggestions:

To customize each motor, click the +Icon on the Motor Quote Line, a Product Suggestions box will pop up. Then, select related items such as accessories or additional components to add them to the Quote. In this case we have added IP65 Protection plus all the other Options available for the 080 Frame Size.

The image below shows that what we add to the Quote grid in Dynamics will appear in the output document see (1) below.

We can now add in the options for the 080 frame size in this example, a FAN and FAN COVER.
We have grouped the options for each frame size because the same options are priced differently depending on the frame size of the motor. Our CPQ Solution can manage this differential pricing. The pricing options can be an absolute price or based on a % of the motor being configured.
In the images below we can see that when we select the items they appear in the Quote.

Showing the technical details

The technical details of the motor can be shown below the motor in the Output document.

Adding Images and links to Technical sheets

Images of the items and URLs to technical datasheets can be added into the product database. They will appear in the quote but if they are not there you can add them on the FLY.
On the quote PDF, the client can click on the URL to go to the technical sheet of each motor.

Quote Manager CPQ simplifies and speeds up the process of configuring and quoting electric motors, ensuring accuracy and professionalism at every step. Save time, reduce errors, and deliver professional quotes that meet customer specific needs.
